OverReactions or Hard Truths from Fantasy Football Week 1

Published on

Week 2 of Fantasy Football is upon us and surely there are no overreactions from the guys.

Reasonable reaction I think.

This is going to be a short, last minute entry, but we can just cover some of the big highlights and lowlights of the week.

In the Keeper League, 4 people scored over 100 points. 2 of those over 110, 1 over 120. It’s lonely at the top, what can I say?

However, the toilet looks ripe with competition as 3 teams scored under 90 points.

What makes these teams so bad? Why did we already anoint one of them with a cowboy hat and belt buckle? And why is one maybe not as unfortunate as it might seem?

Well TeamNoSleep comes in last place currently with Justin Herbert at QB, and the rest of the team filled with major disappointments in Chubb, Aaron Jones, Deebo, Marquise Brown, and Dawson Knox. Big names with no production in week 1, and with the touch % skewed way out of favor for all these players, (Hunt had more touches than Chubb, Dillon over Jones - a 61% snap count, Aiyuk had more snaps - 99% - than Deebo, Diggs / Davis over Knox in the target order) it may not be an optimistic time moving forward. That being said, there is a chance that those former staples of fantasy football return to glory.

ScaryTerry’s outlook, conversely, might be more reliant on potential than previous success. Javonte Williams, AJ Brown, and Brandon Aiyuk are really hoping that the change in QBs is going to help them. Brown had a big day with his best friend Jalen Hurts, while Williams lead the Broncos in targets, and Aiyuk’s enormous snap count might help him moving forward. The irony is that his QB and RB, Brady and King Henry, are on the backend of their primes but still looked strong the year prior. Again, ZeyTong hoping to recreate magic with older vets and younger potential. Let Tee Higgins get healthy and the vets pick up steam, then this team could really be scary moving forward.

A few other major players to consider moving forward:

  • Hilo Bay Packers needs to be worried about Trey Lance and Justin Fields as QB1. Neither option has proven himself. Giddy up for a bumpy ride, Cowboy.
  • Like most 12 team leagues, depth is hard to come by, but Let_Russ_Cook looks abysmal behind the starters - except for Taysom Hill apparently. Gotdamnit, why can’t we get rid of him?? That being said, it’s fantasy football. No one cares about your bench. They’ll be fine and look like contenders.
  • BotoHead’s zero RB strategy might be working? But man those RBs are hard to trust. Fournette and Singletary are the top 2 guys and neither are going to be league winners by season’s end. I guess if the receivers keep putting up big points it doesn’t matter though right? Right?
  • Shizzlez had a Super Sunday at RB, carrying the squad to a win while the receivers managed to put up points in one category - our hearts. Bateman, Sutton, Moore, and Sterling are some sexy names, just not in fantasy football. How this team performs consistently is going to be a question mark for sure.
  • How the hell is DooDooBLuke’s team that good? On paper it looks very mediocre with Davis Mills at QB1, Michael Carter at RB2, Michael Thomas, Pat Freiermuth (really?) and Josh Jacobs in the starting lineup. The team is ugly and truly reflects the disgusting mayonnaise and 99 Bananas shot that he had to take during the draft. But just like Bryson, this team is getting through the unsexiness and putting up a W.

Why I Hate Fantasy Football This Week:

ManaMan’s 2nd pick scored him negative points and it doesn’t even matter. He still put up 111 - good for second most this week.
